5 bicycle routes across Alt Empordà
Empordà’s landscape, without any doubts, is one of the bests in Catalonia. We have already told you about the 4 routes through the Empordà Wetlands, but today we want you to get to know this land even better with 5 routes especially thought for bycicles, one of the best ways of enjoying the environment.
1.- Camí Natural de la Muga
From the coast of the Wetlands towards the inside. With 42 km is the longest route, but don’t be afraid, it has moderate difficulty and it will allow you to see very different spaces such as the Boadella swamp, near the end.
2.- Eix cicloturístic Figueres-Roses
In the capital of Alt Empordà you can start a 22 km route to the Roses gulf. In this route you will also have the chance to cross the Wetlands during the tour. In Roses, the last stop of the itinerary, you will find a great place to rest or keep on enjoying cultural and leisure activities.
3.- Ruta de Peralada a la serra de l’Altarera
Peralada is known for many reasons and it will be the starting and ending point of the route. An easy circular route of 20 km where the only challenge will be climbing the mountain range of Altarera.
4.- Ruta del Fluvià
With very little slope through the 29 km, the route will allow us to follow a great part of the Fluvià river while passing across crop fields, little towns and woods.
5.- L’Escala circular per l’Arbre Sec
Starting at the coast, going through the beautiful town of Sant Martí d’Empúries, getting very near to the Fluvià river and going back to the starting point from the inside. A very nice route which can be completed in less than 3 hours.
Bear in mind that not all of the stretches are exclusive for bikes, but taking some basic precautions the routes will be nice and safe.
