Many of the coastal villages in Catalonia celebrate Carme’s festivities, patron saint of fishermen. Empuriabrava joins in this popular festivity from 12-16 July with a schedule full of activities both for the young and the older ones to enjoy. You’ll be very close to them if you spend these days here with us at Camping Mas Nou.
This festivity comes with a long tradition; its origins going back to the 18th century when the legend of this saint saving an English ship that was about to sink in the middle of a hurricane began.
Years later, in Catalonia, Majorcan admiral Antoni Barceló made this festivity popular among sailors. From then onwards, many coastal towns ask her for protection when their people are on the sea.
These days you’ll be able to get to know this nice festivity enjoying the procession through Empuriabrava’s canals, a popular “sardinada”, an habaneras singing, concerts, Catalan dance and music, a fireworks castle and much more!
