Like every 23rd April we celebrate the diada of Sant Jordi, the patron and lovers day in Catalonia. The tradition issues that the man gifts the woman a rose and she responds with a book as a metaphor of their love. A tradition that goes back to the 15th century and gets popular with the actual liturgy at the beginning of 20th century.
The idyllic scene that the Ampurdan spring offers will is the best setting for this day, a day full of suggestions for different charming places to take a walk with your parnter and enjoy this romantic day.
Walking by the Plaça dels Homes and by the Centre Cívic d’Empuriabrava is essential to understand the philosophy and feeling of this event. Going around the books and roses stalls, seeing all kind of colours even though the crimsons are the typical ones, it’s a great start for your route.
You can also go to the Santa Maria Church, a romanic-gothic cathedral situated in Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer square, and take a drink in one of the many terraces that you’ll find. If you are a nature lover, you can go to Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, a natural reserve home to lots of different species. To finish the day we recommend the fantastic views of the Mediterranean sea in Rubina beach. A beautiful spot of smooth sand from where you can see all the gulf of Roses. A perfect view to end this romantic day.
Take advantage that we start the new season on the 12th April and come to Càmping Mas Nou to celebrate this special date. We are waiting for you!
