Finding original ideas to spend time with the family can sometimes be difficult. Playing games, watching TV, or even taking walks can become monotonous activities. Don’t worry! Here we explain a brilliant idea to spend time with the whole family: get into history through our parents and grandparents toys at the Toy Museum of Catalonia.
Inaugurated in 1982 in Figueres, it offers you a tour of 4,000 pieces and 15,000 different games, many of which have belonged to historical figures such as Salvador Dalí. A journey through the history of industrial toys in Catalonia, which will allow you to explain to your children what your toys were like when you were little, or simply to enjoy the memories that transport you back to your childhood.
The Museum, which is located in the Hotel París, in the Rambla of Figueres, has been very well valued, obtaining the National Prize of Popular Culture, by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1999, as well as the Creu de Sant Jordi prize in 2007.
It has 3 different floors where you can take a walk through different exhibitions, as well as activities for children, adapted to each time of the year.
Visits can be made from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. except for public holidays and holiday vigils. Prices range from 5 euros for groups, to 7 euros for general admission, free for children up to five years old. Here you will find more information about the prices.
And as a novelty… Virtual visits! You can explore the museum space with a single click, at any time, from your home. It will seem like you are right there!
