Low temperatures should not leave us behind when it comes to discovering new destinations and sleeping outdoors. If we decide to go camping it is important to take into account some tips that will make the experience safer, more comfortable and enjoyable.
- Choose the right camping tent.
The tent should be waterproof, which maintains the temperature inside. Igloo tents are the best in this way. In addition, it is necessary to consider the interior space according to the people who will sleep in it.
- Clothes and footwear.
Choose thermal and breathable clothing to avoid sweat, which could cause us to catch a cold.
Avoid cotton clothes that do not keep you warm.
It’s very important to keep your feet warm. These parts of the body are very sensitive to cold, so you should choose good footwear and socks.
- Sleeping bag.
Mummy sleeping bags with double insulation are the most recommendable because they keep the temperature better. We should add a mattress or mat below to insulate from the cold floor.
It should have a large capacity and different anchorage points.

-Spare camping gas bottle
-Replacement batteries (lithium batteries are the best ones in cold temperatures)
- Ventilate the tent well.
It will prevent moisture inside.
Clothes should not be dried inside the tent.

Protect it from the wind, if necessary, with windbreaks.
- Hydration and nutrition
Hot drinks (tea, cafe, soups) are recommended. It’s also a good idea to bring energy bars, nuts and chocolate.

When we decide to go camping it’s advisable to inform someone about our trip and destination. In addition, we can take a geolocalized mobile phone.
-To maintain warm inside the sleeping bag, we can add some clothing inside.
-Rub hands and feet with some sports pomade.
-Put a bottle of hot water in the sleeping bag before going to sleep.
